CPVC Solvent Cement Joining Process
1.PREPARATION: Before installation, prepare all the necessary materials.2.CUTTINGS: In order to make a proper and neat joint, please measure the pipe length accurately and make a small mark. Ensure that the pipe and fittings are size compatible you can easily cut with a plastic pipe cutter or hacksaw blade. Cutting tubing as squarely as possible provides optimal bonding area within a joint.3.DEBURRING: Burrs and filings can prevent proper contact between pipe and fitting during assembly and should be removed. Debarking tool, scissors, pocket knife or file are suitable for this. A slight level on the bend of the pipe will ease entry into the fitting socket.4.SOLVENT CEMENT APPLICATION: Apply cement uniformly to inside of socket and outside of pipe end with a bristle nylon brush and a second coat of cement to pipe end. Apply cement quickly to prevent it from drying and completely cover all jointing surface area of the pipe and fitting. Do not apply excessive cement in bell socket.5.JOINTING: After applying the last coat of cement to the pipe, while cement is still wet (within 20 seconds) forcefully bottom the male end of the pipe in the socket giving pipe or fitting 1/4th turn to distribute the cement evenly.6.WIPING: Wipe with a clean dry cloth after applying the solvent.
